Pearls of rain from countries where it does not rain...

well, when I said you'd be hearing from me soon, I didn't really mean this soon, but ... I've been memorising this beautiful french poem (for French) and it's *so* romantic and melancholy (melancholic? does anyone know which one?!). I just love it.

Venues de pays ou il ne pleut pas;

And for everyone who sadly has no knowledge whatsoever of French ;o) - here's the English, which doesn't flow nearly as well, but hey, if you understand it!

Do not leave me, you have to forget
Everything that has gone before may be forgotten
Forgetting the time of misunderstandings
And the lost time, that sometimes killed the heart of happiness through the constant blows of questions
Do not leave me...
I would offer you pearls of rain from countries where it does not rain; I would dig up the earth until my death to cover up your body of gold and light.
I would create a kingdom where love is king, where love is the law, and you would be queen.
Do not leave me...

It really does sound much better in French, and the translation is only approximate...but it's still beautiful.

it's lunchtime and it's lazy

ahhh, the freedom of not having to do anything for at least half an hour...this is an unreal site - *sooo* impressed, for the info of all who work on and/or appreciate it also. I'm having a good day - my hair is straight, which is an unusual luxury, as generally it's curly, and we just had an online discussion about what Sophocles' point was in writing Antigone (ancient greek tragedy - everyone dies and people are corrupt. check it out - pretty funky) in class. It was all good. For those who don't know me at all (which I presume is most of you :) I'm almost seventeen, a student in Melbourne, Australia, I have many eclectic interests and especially love history, literature, music, poetry, and diet coke. (sad, but true.) I shall leave you now, as I have much of this site left to explore, but be assured, you'll be hearing from me soon...
